Election Nominations In!

Posted on February 17, 2012

The Kingston University Students’ Union Elections 2012 nomination period has now drawn to a close, with an impressive 105 nominations from 68 standing candidates.

It has been an interesting fortnight of discussion and debate and KUSU is delighted that the nomination numbers have multiplied almost threefold compared to last year’s 35 candidates.

Christopher Dingle, current KUSU President, said: “This record level of nominations has been the result of a lot of hard work from students, officers and union staff and I am incredibly excited to see so many candidates standing. Hopefully this will now turn into a voter turnout to match.”

The election week, originally planned for Monday 12th – Wednesday 14th March, has been extended by a day due to an NUS-organised national day of action against changes in fees, education cuts and the debt regime. Elections will open Monday 12th March, 9am, as planned, and close Thursday 15th March, 5pm. Students will be able to vote online and at pods at all campuses.

A full candidate list will be released early next week once all candidates have been contacted.
